hello friends & happy october!!! 🍂
are you one to refresh & create change or do you nestle in & plan ahead? maybe a bit of both?
I’m ready for some refreshing.
I’ve updated my brand strategy process, been working on new offers & I’m focusing on sharing them.
✧ ˚ · .
it’s got me thinking again about the ebb & flow of creative consumption vs work or input vs output.
input being, the things you consume that nourish your creative energy. it aids in output. it can be something you produce but there isn’t really an alternative goal or motive.
output is outward-focused energy that serves a bigger purpose. that purpose could be client work or content, but it’s a result of your input.
as a creative entrepreneur, you must find a balance between both.
you need to honor the ebbs & flows.
you can’t just scroll all day & call it ‘research’ or ‘inspiration’.
you also can’t take too much action without filling your cup.
action follows inaction 𖦹
✧ ˚ · .
being mindful of the media you intake is something I lecture about a lot, I know. I like to share niche websites, talk about personal taste & the creative process all to help improve the quality of your outputs.
take care of your creative energy & put out better work each time.

starting to collect some favorites so here are my favorite type designers:
speaking of inputs & outputs- Oren just posted a video on building your creative skillset over time.
speaking of ebbs & flows- it’s nice that just put out a five-part advice series for first-year freelancers called wise guys.
picked up the most beautiful print the other day from my new favorite artist, Grace Vargason.
hope you all have a good start to the month! ttyl
